Crunchbase News' weekly roundup for Aug. 22–28, 2026 reported that the largest announced rounds by U.S.-based companies skewed smaller than in recent weeks. Most of the biggest recipients were AI startups, with the rest of the list spanning business software, physical AI, autonomous transport and even sea gliders.

Instinct, a San Francisco company beta-testing an AI assistant, is raising $250 million in a Series B at a $2.5 billion valuation led by Index Ventures and Benchmark, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing founder Noah Shinn. Second on the list was Owner, at $240 million, which sells AI tools that let local businesses automate website building, online and phone ordering, and mobile apps. In physical AI, Lyte raised a $165 million Series C led by Maverick Silicon for robot sensing and perception technology.
