Alphabet's venture arm takes the lead seat in 2026's large AI rounds
Per Crunchbase News round-ups during 2026, Google Ventures — Alphabet's corporate venture arm — shows up as lead or principal backer in AI rounds of several hundred million dollars.

Corporate venture capital is no longer confined to the co-investor seat. According to Crunchbase News round-ups, Sierra, which builds AI tools for customer-experience management, raised $950 million at a $15 billion valuation in a round co-led by Google Ventures and Tiger Global. In a separate 2026 round, New York-based Flourish, working on brain-inspired AI models, raised $500 million in its initial financing, with backers including Jeff Bezos, Lux Capital and Google Ventures.
